Driver’s Itinerary

Ensure your vehicle is clean, in good condition; Welcome your clients ready for the safari.

Day 1: 

Depart from The Great Turk Reef Hotel at 7AM ready for the safari. Head to Lodwar Mountain for an early hike. This takes about 2 hours hiking and descending.

From Lodwar Mountain, proceed to Lodwar Museum. Here, get the rich history of freedom fighters who were detained there. This takes about an hour.

Head to Christ the Redeemer Statue Lodwar.  Lodwar’s statue is a story of Christianity. Have a beautiful view of the Lodwar Town. Entrance fee is 50/= per person. Spend an hour here as you are narrated the reason behind the construction of this sculpture.

Proceed to Mkeka ground. Here you get an opportunity to interact with weavers of basketry items. Have an interactive session of about 1 hour.

Head to The Great Turk Reef Hotel for lunch.

After lunch, proceed to Nayeng’yeng’ about 50 minutes drive located along Kerio road about 15-20km from Kitale-Lodwar Highway. Have a beautiful view of the bare grazing lands as you head to Nayeng’yeng’. The place is ideal for teambuilding activities. The timing here is open. Proceed to the hotel.

Day 2:

Early breakfast served followed by briefing of the safari ahead. Depart and drive through B72 a distance of about 60km. Check in at Eliye Springs Resort and immediately head to Eliye beach for a boat ride to Central Island a journey that will take about 50 minutes depending with the speedboat and condition of the Lake. Explore the three crater lakes (Tilapia, Crocodile and Flamingo). Entry fee USD 22 adults, kids 15, Camping Fee USD 20 adults, kids USD 13, Residents KSH. 300 entrance fee and camping respectively, KSH. 250 entrance fee and camping kids respectively.

The park is small and covers an area of 5km² . Spend time here about 4 hours. A reminder to carry refreshments as the weather is too hot.

After fully exploration, depart back to Eliye Springs Resort for late lunch and have a relax enjoying the hotel facilities.

Diner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 3: 

After breakfast, check out at 7AM and proceed to Wadach pyramids and Napeget Sand dunes about 11km from Eliye enjoying the desert safari. Pass by Namorutung’a as you head to Kalokol fishing Village.

Afternoon, head to Learning Lions for lunch and have an exploration of the IT firm. Proceed to Nariokotome north of Turkana along Lake Turkana a distance of about 80km. The story about the Nariokotome boy can be told in a more captivating way giving visitors a better understanding of human evolution.
